Course materials (students)

Course materials can include anything from lessons and presentations to assignments and exams. Each course can be organized differently, so the course materials might be listed in Materials, or organized into folders. To access your course's materials, click Courses, and then select the course you want to access.

Course Folders

Course folders organize course-specific materials and can contain the following:

  1. Assignments

  2. Tests or quizzes

  3. Assessments

  4. Files or links

  5. Discussions

  6. Media albums

  7. Pages

Course assignments

An assignment may require you to submit something for your instructor to grade. Your instructor can also provide feedback or upload a file in return to you.

  1. In the assignment, select Submit Assignment.

  2. Optionally, enter any questions you have in the Comments

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • Upload: Select a file from your computer.

    • Create: Create a document using the text editor.

    • Resources: Select a file from your Resources, which can be a Google Doc if you have linked your account.

  4. Click Submit to finish.

Assignments may have a due date. If so, the assignment will be displayed in the Calendar and Upcoming areas on your homepage. Depending on the settings chosen by the course instructor, an assignment may not be graded.

Course tests/quizzes

The tests/quizzes material is a type of online assessment that is made from a variety of the following question types:

Course discussions

Discussions are interactive conversations that allow participation between you, your classmates, and your instructor. Each discussion has threaded commenting, allowing you to respond to any post by another student.

For some courses, instructors may choose to moderate the discussion posts. Moderation requires a course administrator to approve each post before it is published. When this feature is turned on, your posts will not be immediately accessible to other students.

Course media albums

Media albums can contain photos, videos, or audio files. With your instructor's permission, you can comment on each item within the album or upload your own files. Your instructor can also tag you and your classmates in specific photos. Tagged photos of you will also display on your profile page.

Course pages

Pages are resources created by your instructor to supplement the course. These pages are highly versatile, allowing for the inclusion of text, image, outside link, and video information.
