Impersonation

Overview

Impersonation lets the impersonator review another user's account as the user, with their permissions.

Set up Impersonation

To use Impersonation, the district must assign the Allow impersonation permission to roles. These roles must also have the Administer Users and Administer School permissions assigned and be assigned to the district building.

From Permissions within User Management, navigate to the Impersonation tab. Map the roles that can be impersonated by selecting Allow impersonation.

To turn off impersonation, remove the Allow impersonation permission from all roles or clear the role mapping. Any active impersonation sessions will end on the next page request.

Impersonate a user

  1. Select Tools and choose User Management.

  2. From Manage Users, locate the individual to impersonate.

  3. Select the Settings icon, and then choose Impersonate. This option is available only if the required impersonation permission has been enabled.

  4. Click Impersonate.

The impersonated name, role, and the Impersonation icon are displayed in the header to confirm that you are in impersonation mode.

Click Stop Impersonation in the banner to return to Manage Users.

  • App Switcher or Linked Accounts is not available when impersonating a user.

  • A single impersonation session will time out after 1 hour. A new session is required to continue.
