Personal account (parent): notifications

This article details personal notifications for Parent accounts.

Email and text message notifications are separate from the Notifications menu (bell icon) in the header. The bell icon displays a running list of academic activity related to your account and can’t be customized. To receive the same notifications as your child, add your email or phone number to your child’s notification settings.

Schoology sends email notifications for any Social, Academic, Group, and School activity that occurs in your account. These notifications pertain to the school, courses, and groups in which you are enrolled, not courses or groups in which your child is enrolled.

To access your personal account notifications, click your name in the header and choose Settings. From your account, navigate to Notifications.

Email notifications

Choose which notifications you want to receive from courses and groups in which you're enrolled. Alternatively, turn off all email notifications for your account by clicking Turn Off All Notifications.

Customize your notifications

  1. Click your name in the header and choose Settings.

  2. From your account, navigate to Notifications.

  3. For the action, choose an option from the list.

    • Choose On to receive notifications from all sources.

    • Choose Off to not receive from any source.

    • Choose Custom to pick and choose the sources.

  4. Click Save Changes.

Text message notifications

Text message notifications are also available for certain actions.

If you live outside of the U.S. or Canada, text message notifications are not yet supported at this time.

  1. Click your name in the header and choose Settings.

  2. From your account, navigate to Notifications.

  3. Click the Send notifications to your phone via text message box.

  4. Enter your Cell Number. Your number remains hidden from other Schoology users.

  5. Choose your Country.

  6. Select your wireless Carrier.

  7. Click Set Mobile.

Update your cell number

  1. Click Edit next to Mobile Phone to the right of Notifications.

  2. Enter the correct cell number or click Remove to remove your mobile phone entirely.

  3. Click Set Mobile.

If your Notifications area does not display these options, you may be accessing Notifications while in the Child Activity view. To display these notification options, click your name in the header and choose Settings.
