PowerBuddy chat (students)

PowerBuddy for Learning is an AI helper for your schoolwork. If your teacher has turned it on for your assignment, you can ask PowerBuddy questions to help you learn. It gives you information and tips about your assignment topic. Interact with PowerBuddy as if you’re talking to a tutor. You can ask PowerBuddy questions about the assignment’s focus or choose topic suggestions to explore your interests further.

Open PowerBuddy

If your teacher has turned PowerBuddy on, it will be available when you open the assignment.

  1. Select the PowerBuddy logo.

  2. In the chat, ask questions or choose a prompt.

  3. Optionally, if your microphone is enabled in your browser, click the microphone icon in the chat to convert your speech to text. Click the play icon to have a message read aloud.

If you select Quiz me, PowerBuddy will quiz you on the assignment topic. If you’re not sure of the correct answer, select Hint or Step-by-step to get additional help to choose the correct answer. If you choose the wrong answer, PowerBuddy will provide additional information to help you better understand the topic.

Review previous chats

All of your PowerBuddy chats are recorded. Your teacher can enable the option for you access a previous chat and review the information and explanations PowerBuddy provided.

Chat records are available in Schoology for 60 days. Older chat records are stored in case school officials need to refer to them later.

  1. From your home page, select Access chat history. Alternatively, if you are in an active chat with PowerBuddy, click the clock icon to navigate to your previous chats.

  2. On the Chat history page, select the chat you want to review.

  3. If needed, download an individual conversation using one of the following options:

    • Select the Download icon (down arrow) for the conversation.

    • Open the conversation and select Download.

Flagged PowerBuddy chats

As your PowerBuddy chats are recorded, any chats that contain inappropriate content, including violent topics or profanity, are flagged for review by your teachers, school officials, and administrators.
