View User Administration permission (controlled availability)

Some Schoology administration permissions override other permissions.

Overview

The Administer Users permission gives a system admin the necessary visibility and control to administer users in their organization. While this permission is appropriate for some roles, it may be too powerful for users who only need to review information in User Management.

For users who need to review the information in User Management but shouldn’t be able to make changes, assign the View User Administration permission.

Users with View User Administration can review and navigate to specific menus managed by Administer Users permission with read-only access, including:

  • Manage Users

    • Edit Users

    • Roles/Advanced

    • Faculty Info

    • Parents/Advisors

    • Inactive

    • Merge

  • Roles

  • Permissions (Includes permission sub-screens based on feature access)

Create Users and Demographics is not accessible with the View User Administration permission.

Assign the View User Administration permission

  1. Select Tools and choose User Management from the list.

  2. Select Permissions.

  3. From Administration Settings, select View User Administration for a role. Users in those roles, across your organization, will be able to review User Management menus.

  4. Click Save permissions.
