Why are students missing my class?

Absence Reason

The primary reason for the absence. If a class spans 2 or 3 periods it will typically have 2 or 3 absence entries (one for each period) and the reason could potentially vary.  Typical values include Unexcused, Medical, Athletic, NA (Not Applicable), etc. Reasons can (and often do) vary by School.

The course and the period it is taking place in.

The semester (or trimester) number for the related school (1, 2, 3, etc.). Note that dates outside defined semester are set to Semester of 0.

Semester

Attendance Type

The type of attendance data for that period.  As this is an absence (or negative attendance) table the types are: Absence, Late (Tardy), or Unknown.

The student's code or ID number for the SIS system. This is padded with proceeding zeros to seven positions (e.g., 82901 becomes 0082901).
