Course materials: Tests/Quizzes (enterprise instructors)
Create tests and quizzes in your Schoology course to assess your student’s grasp of the material or evaluate their preparedness for class. Each test or quiz is automatically graded, except for subjective questions, giving you instant feedback to guide your lesson plans.
You can manually override grades, add comments, and customize settings for each test and quiz.
If you use Schoology Enterprise and there is no test and quiz option in your organization, contact your Schoology representative.
Creating a test or quiz is no longer available in Schoology Basic.
Create tests and quizzes
Navigate to a course.
Select Add Materials and choose Add Test/Quiz from the list.
Enter the test or quiz information. Refer to the Test and quiz options details table for more information.
Click Create to complete.
Tests and quizzes can also be created from course folders or added to folders after creation.

Add questions
From the test or quiz, select Add Question and choose a question type from the list.
Enter the question details.
Optionally, for multiple-choice or true or false questions, add feedback.
Click Show Feedback.
Enter answer-level feedback for each answer choice.
Enter Incorrect Response Feedback and Correct Response Feedback.
Click Create Question.
Add up to 200 questions per test or quiz.
Emojis are not supported in tests and quizzes.
Add questions from a question bank to a test/quiz
After creating a question bank, build tests/quizzes using questions from the banks. You can add individual questions from a question bank or select questions from multiple question banks.
Add individual questions from a question bank
Navigate to a course.
Select Add Materials and choose Add Test/Quiz from the list.
Alternatively, select a previously created test/quiz.From Questions, click Add Question.
Select From Question Banks.
From Import from Question Banks, select Individual Questions.
Select the question bank from which you want to import questions.
Select the questions to import.
Alternatively, select Auto-select, enter the number of questions to add, and click Select. All students in the course receive the same set of questions.Enter a value for each question to set its point value.
Alternatively, set a consistent point value for each question by clicking Set Points and entering a value in Points Per Question.Click Add Questions.
Add a random selection of questions from one or more question banks
Navigate to a course.
Select Add Materials and choose Add Test/Quiz from the list.
Alternatively, select a previously created test/quiz.From Questions, click Add Question.
Select From Question Banks.
From Import from Question Banks, select Random Questions.
From Select Question Banks, select one or more question banks.
Click Select Question Banks.
From Add Random Questions, enter the number of questions to generate from each bank and each question’s point value.
Click Add Questions.
Each quiz will contain the designated number of questions from the selected question banks.
Each student receives a unique set of questions, even if some are the same but in a different order.
Import a test or quiz
Import a test or quiz from Blackboard 7.1-9.0, Edmastery, or ExamView.
From the test or quiz, click Add Question.
Select Import Test/Quiz.
Choose to import from Blackboard 7.1-9.0, or Edmastery. ExamView questions can be imported by first exporting them to the Blackboard format.
Click Next.
Select a file from your computer and click Import.

Navigate to a course.
Choose the test or quiz.
Select Settings.
Adjust the test or quiz options.
The default setting for test or quiz availability is Disable. If your students can open the test or quiz but Start New Attempt is not available, you may need to change this setting to one of the Enable options.
The time limit setting does not control setting a time limit for individual questions.
Preview a test or quiz
Navigate to a course, choose the test or quiz, and select Preview to check your questions and settings before you make the test available to students.
Review results
After students complete the test or quiz, results are immediately cataloged in the Results section. Navigate to a course, choose the test or quiz, and select Results to review student submissions by student or question.
If your test or quiz has subjective questions, you must manually grade the test or test question for the student to receive a score.
Manually grade a test or quiz
Grade from student view
Navigate to a course.
Select the test or quiz.
Select Results.
From View by Student, choose an asterisk and enter a final score.
Alternatively, select View Attempts to grade a specific submission.
Click the gear for the selected submission and choose View/Edit.
Enter a score for the subjective question.
Optionally, adjust other automatically graded questions.
Click Save Changes.
Grade from question view
Navigate to a course.
Select the test or quiz.
Select Results.
Select View by Question.
Optionally, select Question Summary to review data about how your students performed.
Select View Responses.
Enter a score for the subjective question or adjust the automatically graded questions.
Click Save Changes.
Unsubmit an attempt
Navigate to a course.
Select the test or quiz.
Select Results.
From View by Student, choose View Attempts for the selected student.
Click the gear for the attempt to unsubmit and choose Unsubmit.
Unsubmitting an attempt cannot be undone. If you have deleted an attempt and need to restore it, contact Schoology Support.
If a student resumes after the teacher has unsubmitted their submission, the timer will not resume or restart.
