Highlight image: Enhanced question type

Use the Highlight Image question to allow students to draw on an image. This question type works well in many testing scenarios, such as identifying parts of a picture—for example, bones in a skeleton or specific elements in the periodic table.

This question type is not automatically scored.

Question setup

  1. From Question Setup, enter your question.

    • Use the Rich Text Editor to format text or insert images and tables.

    • Hover over icons to display tooltips.

  2. Select Upload Image and browse to an image on your computer or shared drive.

  3. Optionally, enter a direct Image Link.

  4. Optionally, enter Author Notes to explain why certain choices are incorrect, or why partial credit was given for alternate answers. This field only displays to authors with edit access. This information will not display to students.

  5. Click + Learning Objectives to display the Learning Objectives browser.

    1. Select a Parent Objective to find and select specific objectives.

    2. Click Align to add the objectives.

Preview and edit the question

  1. Click Preview Question to review how the question will display to students.

  2. Click Edit Question to return to the question editor. Alternatively, click X to close the question.
