Reconnect OneDrive Assignments app (instructor)

Overview

The OneDrive Assignments app uses OneDrive’s permission-sharing. When a student opens an assignment, a personal copy of the file is created. This copy is shared only between the student and the instructor who created the assignment.

Access errors

Students or instructors may lose access to a file if:

  • A student switches Microsoft accounts. Their new ID no longer matches the permissions of the original file.

  • A student or instructor is logged into Schoology but not logged into a Microsoft account.

Fixing access errors

These issues can usually be resolved by logging out of the OneDrive Assignments app and logging back in with the correct Microsoft account. Schoology provides a link to make this process easier.

The link is displayed for:

  • Students in the My Document tab

  • Instructors in the In Progress tab

  • Instructors in the Submissions tab

If students continue to have issues, direct them to the product help article Reconnecting the OneDrive Assignments App with Force Log Out for Students.

Reconnect the app

  1. Select Can’t see your document? Click here.

    • This will log you out of the OneDrive Assignments app.

    • It will not affect how students are logged in.

  2. Click Connect to log in to your OneDrive account.

Instructors must log in to the OneDrive Assignments app with the same OneDrive account used to create the assignment. Student copies are shared only with the creating instructor and the student, so co-teachers and other faculty cannot review them in the In Progress or Submissions tabs.

When logged in, Schoology will automatically reload the document. If the document does not load, submit a ticket to PowerSchool Support.
