Setting

Description

Perform Drill

Enabling this option treats the metric link as a drill from the containing dashboard to the target dashboard (only applies to Dashboard Page objects). This setting allows the user to use the drill path to navigate back to the dashboards they drilled through to get to the current dashboard.

Metric Detail as Target

Enabling this option tells the system to use the Metric Detail page defined for the metric as the target of the metric link. This option is ignored if the Target Link ID or the Target URL is specified (not empty). Deprecated, metrics no longer support this setting.

Context-Sensitive Filtering

Enabling this option tells the system to pass through the context information to the target of the metric link, which are the values for the row that the user has selected. When this option is selected, it applies the context-sensitive drill rule specified on the metric. However, an Action button is not affected by the context-sensitive drill rule on the metric.

Drill Link
Action Link

Drill Dimension Value

The value defined for the selected drill dimension.
If you would like to use user filters and scoped variables in a custom URL for an action, you must enable the Perform Drill option. This is required so that the source metric is used when determining which user filters and scoped variables are available for the action link.

Action button settings

Setting

Description

Metric link type

Button Label

A text label that renders to the right of the icon for the Action button. When the Button Icon setting is set to "None," only this label will render. Leave this entry blank for no button label.

Action Button

Simulate Button Effects

Enabling this option tells the system to use scripts to create a button type effect when the user hovers over and clicks the button. If this option is not used, the button is rendered as a link with no effects.

Action Button

Button Title (tooltip)

The title (or hover-over tooltip) that is rendered for the button. This option allows the use of context information from the current row by using the {dim#} syntax to define the dimension column for which its value will be substituted into the title.

Action Button

Button Icon

Specifies the icon image that will be rendered for this button:

  • Select None to hide the image from the button altogether; in that case, so you will want to use the Button Label option.
  • Select Target Icon to use the default icon of the Target object. If the target icon is specified and the Target URL is defined, the default Action Button icon is used.
When creating an action button that uses user filters and scoped variables in a custom URL for the action, you must enable the Perform Drill option. This is required so that the source metric is used when determining which user filters and scoped variables are available for the action button.
