Administer test, quizzes, and assessments in linked sections
Overview
If you administer a course with linked sections, you can determine how assessments, tests, and quizzes will affect your students’ overall grades in the course, and set different availability and due dates for each course section
Availability refers to publishing or unpublishing the item. When the item is published, students can access it.
Due Date determines if a student receives notifications for that item. If the item has a due date, it will appear in students' calendar and Upcoming feed. The due date does not indicate if the item is published or if submissions are enabled.
Submissions determine whether or not the student can start an attempt and submit the item. If the item is published but submissions are not enabled, students may access the item but will be unable to start an attempt. Test or quizzes display This test/quiz is not currently accepting submissions. Assessments, display This activity is not currently accepting submissions.
Configure assessments in linked sections
Go to a course.
Select the assessment’s gear icon and choose Edit from the list.
Update the assignment settings. From Availability & Due Dates:
Click Select Sections to Customize and choose the course sections to be displayed. Selecting a specific section will display that section's availability field, and all the other sections display from Everyone else.
Click the circle to publish or unpublish the item in a section.
Enter a Due Date and time for each section.
Enable submissions. Refer to the Submission status details table for more information.
Click Save Changes.

Submission status | Details |

Enable | Students can open and take the assessment. |
Enable until | Students can take the assessment until the date and time you specify in the Until field. |
Enable from…until… | Students can begin the assessment after the date and time indicated in From and before the date and time in Until. |
Disable | Students cannot take the assessment. The default setting for submissions is Disable. If your students can open the assessment but the Start New Attempt button is unavailable, check if you need to switch this setting to one of the Enable options. |
Configure tests and quizzes in linked sections
Go to a course.
Select the gear icon for the test or quiz and choose Edit from the list.
Update the selections.
Click Select Sections to Customize to differentiate the due date and availability for each of your linked sections. Choose Select All to display all course sections or select a specific section. Selecting a specific section will display that section's availability field, and all other sections display from Everyone else.
Click the circle to publish or unpublish the item in a section.
Enter a Due Date and time for each section.
Click Save Changes.
Enable test and quiz submissions in linked sections
Go to a course.
Click the test or quiz title and select Settings.
From Submissions, choose an option. Refer to the Submission status details table for more information
Click Save Changes.
Publish assessments, tests, or quizzes in linked sections
Navigate to the course.
Click the gear icon next to the assessment, test, or quiz.
Select Publish for All Sections or Unpublish for All Sections.
