Calendar
Overview
Use the calendar to review and manage events and due dates for:
Courses
Groups
Personal connections
Click the calendar icon in the main menu to review by month, week, or day.
Create events
You can create one-time or recurring events from the home page, a course profile, and a group profile.
You must be an admin of the course or group to create events there.
From the home page
From the homepage, select Recent Activity.
From the Post options, click Event.
Enter the post details.
You can also attach a file, link, resource, audio, or video recording.
In the Post to... field, enter where you want to post the event to. Enter a course, group, school building, or your personal profile. Click the search icon to select the areas. You can post to as many areas as you want. Check the areas from the list and click Select.
Optionally, select a Repeat option to create a recurring event. Then, from Until, set a date to end the recurring event.
The maximum duration for recurring events is one calendar year.
If you select an end date with a longer duration, the recurring event will automatically end after one calendar year. Review the Recurring event options table for more details.
Click Create.
From a course or group
Navigate to a course or group profile.
From Upcoming, select Add Event.
Enter the post information.
You can also attach a file, link, resource, audio, or video recording.
In the Post to... field, enter where you want to post the event to. Enter a course, group, school building, or your personal profile. Click the search icon to select the areas. You can post to as many areas as you want. Check the areas from the list and click Select.
Click Create.
Recurring event options
Repeat option | Description |

Weekly | Repeats once a week on the same day of the week as the original event |
Monthly | Repeats once a month on the same date as the original event |
Monthly on the selected weekday | Repeats once a month on the same day of the week as the original event If the original event date is not available for a subsequent month, the event will appear on the closest day to the original day of the month. |
Edit events
You can edit events from the home page, a course profile, and a group profile. You can edit the title, description, time, date, RSVP settings, add content, formatting, and more.
You cannot change the recurrence of an existing series. To update it, delete and recreate the recurring event.
From the calendar
Select the event.
Click Edit Item.
Edit the event details.
Click Save Changes.
From the upcoming area
Click the Calendar icon.
Select the event.
Click the gear icon and select Edit.
Edit the event details.
Click Save Changes.
Edit a recurring event
You can choose to edit:
The individual event only
The individual event and subsequent events in the series
Every event in the series, including past events
Invite guests
To invite people to your event, RSVP must be enabled.
If you create an event with RSVPs from your personal calendar, you can manually invite people from the event profile. If you create an event with RSVP from a course or group calendar, then the course or group members are automatically invited.
If you invite guests to a specific occurrence within a recurring event, the invitation only applies to the single event, not the entire event series.
Select the event from the calendar or Upcoming area.
Click +Invite Other Guests.
Search by name, school, or connections.
Select names from the search result.
Click Invite Guests.
RSVP options
RSVP option | Description |

Only invitees can RSVP | RSVP limited to invited members |
Anyone can RSVP | Open RSVP for members of the course, group, or school |
Delete events
Events can only be deleted by the creator from any area in which they are accessible.
From a calendar
Select the calendar icon.
Select the event to delete.
Click View Item.
Click the gear icon and select Delete.
Click Delete to confirm.
From Upcoming
Select the event to delete from the Upcoming area.
Click the gear icon and select Delete.
Click Delete to confirm.
Unpublished course materials with due dates will disappear from the calendar until republished.
Delete a recurring event

The entire series
Color-coding and filtering
Customize a color-code calendar
Your calendar uses color codes for personal, school, group, and course events.
Click All Calendars.
Choose a color for each calendar.
Use the same panel to filter your view.
Import external calendars
Export your calendar file from another tool, such as Outlook Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Google Calendar, and then import the file into your Schoology calendar.
Imports are one-time only. Changes made in external calendars won’t sync automatically.
Export the external ICS calendar file
Generate an ICS file from your third-party calendar to import into your Schoology calendar.
From Outlook
Open your Outlook calendar to make it active.
From File, click Save As.
Enter a File name for the iCal file.
A summary of the calendar name, date range, and detail level displays in the More Options section. If you are satisfied with the summary, proceed to step 6; otherwise, continue with step 4.Click More Options.
From the Date Range list, choose the amount of calendar data to include in Schoology, or click Specify dates to enter a custom date range.
There is a limit of 1,000 events for the Schoology calendar.
If you choose a large date range or select the whole calendar, your file may be too large.
Click Ok, and then click Save.
From Apple
Open the Calendar App.
Click the File menu.
Select Export, and then choose Export...
Name your calendar file and click Export.
From Google
You can only export from a computer, not a phone or tablet.
Open your Google Calendar.
Click the Settings icon and then select Settings.
Click Import & export.
Click Export.
Click Export to confirm and download a ZIP file.
Open the ZIP file to access individual ICS files for each of your calendars.
Import the file to a Schoology calendar
After downloading your ICS file, log in to your Schoology account to import the file to your personal, course, group, or school calendar.
Navigate to the calendar.
At the end of the calendar, click Import.
Click Attach File and locate the exported ICS file to upload.
Click Import.
You must have appropriate permissions to import calendars into a school.
The maximum ICS file size is 100MB.
The maximum events to import is 1,000.
You can also add your Schoology calendar to an external calendar, so changes made in Schoology automatically update your other calendar.
