Course updates (instructors)
Overview
Use Course Updates to create announcements in your course. Post updates in your course to quickly communicate brief messages to your students. Posted updates appear in the Updates section of a course and on the course member’s homepage.
If you or your students cannot access updates in your course, reach out to your Support Contact to submit a ticket to the Schoology Help Desk.
Post a course update
Navigate to a course and select Updates.
Enter the information.
Optionally, add a file, create a poll, share resources, and more.
Click Post.
To change a course update into an announcement, select the bell icon from the update editor. This promotes the update to the first section on the Updates page and to the first section of the Course page until you remove the announcement.
Create course polls
Create anonymous polls in your course when posting a course update to receive live feedback as members vote.
Navigate to a course and select Updates.
Enter the poll question.
Select the poll icon.
Enter responses in the fields.
Optionally, select Add Option to display more fields.
Click the Post button to complete.
Post an update to multiple courses
From the home page, select Recent Activity.
Select Update.
Enter the information.
Optionally, add a file, pole, resource, and more.
From Search, select the courses for which you want to post the update and click Select.
Click Post.
Modify a posted update
From the home page, select Recent Activity. Alternatively, navigate to a course and select Updates.
Hover over the update and click the gear icon.
Select Edit or Delete.
Delete a student's comment
From the home page, select Recent Activity. Alternatively, navigate to a course and select Updates.
From the comment, click the gear icon.
Click Delete.
Set Updates as the default landing page for a course
Navigate to a course.
From Course Options, select Edit Privacy/Course Settings.
From Default Landing Page, select Updates.
Click Save Changes.
