Grading groups
Sort students into groups within a single course section using the Grading Groups feature. Then, individually assign graded materials to these groups, and display them as individual groups in the course gradebook.
Create a grading group
Navigate to a course and select Members.
From Members, hover your mouse over Organize members into Grading Groups.
Click Add Grading Group.
Enter a Group Name.
Select the students to add.
Click Create Grading Group.
Individually assign materials from a course
Navigate to a course.
Click Add Materials and choose an option from the list. Alternatively, click the gear icon for a previously created material and choose Edit.
Enter or update the material details.
From Options, click Individually Assign.
From Assign to, enter the student names or grading groups to whom you want to assign the material.
Click Save Changes.
If you remove a student who has submitted a test for an individually assigned assessment from a grading group, all previous submissions completed while the student was a member of the group still apply to the student's grade.
Assigning an item to a grading group makes it available only to its members. The grade book only displays scores for those students.
Filter the gradebook by grading groups
After assigning materials to a grading group, the Gradebook displays a dash in the grading cell for members not assigned a particular material.
The gradebook displays all course members by default. To enter grades for specific groups, apply the Grading group filter. To sort your gradebook, view by Grading Group.
To give all users in the group the same grade, click the arrow for the assignment or discussion name, and select Set All Grades.
Edit or delete grading groups
Navigate to a course and select Members.
Click the gear icon for the grading group.
Select Edit or Delete.
If you delete a grading group assigned a course material, you delete that association. Students in the group are no longer assigned the item.
If you remove a student from a grading group, all previous assignments completed while a member of the group still apply to the student's grade.
