Attendance and Behavior PowerGrid

Review information on how to use the PowerGrid.

Year

The school year for the related school. 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002, etc. Note that dates outside the defined school year are set to School Year of 0.

Dimension

Term

The term number for the related school (1, 2, 3, etc.). Note that dates outside the defined term are set to Term of 0.

School

The full name of the school.

Dimension

Student ID

The student's code or ID number for the SIS system. This is padded with proceeding zeros to seven positions (e.g., 82901 becomes 0082901).

Student name

The student's full name: last name, first name, middle initial, and suffix (Kirk, James T. Jr.)

Gender

Female, Male, or X (Gender not exclusively Male or Female).

SPED

Indicates (Yes/No) whether the student is currently receiving special education services (either in regular classroom or special ed unit).

ELL

Indicates whether the student is currently active in an English as a Second Language program (Yes or No)?  If the student is withdrawn and was participating in ESL at the time of withdrawing then they will be set to Yes.

Ethnicity

The student's primary racial background: American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, Unknown/Unspecified, White.

Current Cumulative GPA

The student's cumulative GPA calculated and frozen from the previous school year.  This is the unweighted GPA.

Homeroom

The homeroom code for the school where the student is currently enrolled.  0212, 107A, HOME, SG11, 0105, etc.  Note:  This is the homeroom of the student as of withdrawal date for inactive students and the homeroom as of today for Active students.  If between school year & semester the homeroom will be Unassigned.

Current School

School name where the student is currently enrolled - Beechcroft High School, Welcome Center at North, Prof. Inst. Walnut Ridge Hs, etc.  Use in reports & analyses only as a student attribute - enrollment fact data should be used for student profiles.

Home Language

The primary language spoken within the student's home: English, Spanish, Hmong, Urdu, etc. Students with missing values will be set to English is in conformance with State Reporting where this element is required.

Homeless

Indicates (Yes/No) that this student is currently living in a shelter or otherwise classified as homeless Yes/No.

Language

The student's primary language:  English, Spanish, Hmong, Urdu, etc.  The default of null to English is in synch with most State Reporting.

Mobility

The number of times a student has changed schools during the past 365 days (past 12 months).

Status

A high-level status grouping: Active, Pre-Enrolled, Expelled, Transferred-Out, Graduated, etc.

Grades Serviced

A classification of the school by grade levels taught: Elementary, Middle School, Middle/Junior/Intermediate, High School, Administrative.

Summer School, Regular Day School, Administrative, Night/Continuing Ed.

Action Group

The discipline actions grouping values according to the local district grouping rules.  This requires that the detailed offense codes are mapped into district groups in the SMS or in the DISCIPLINE_ACTION_GROUPS domain.

The type of action assigned in response to the incident: Time out - 1 hour or less, PEAK - In-school suspension, Out-of-school suspension, Hearing, etc.

Location

(METADATA) - Location where the incident provoking the disciplinary response occurred: Classroom, Playground, Hall, Bus, etc.  Note that if a location is not entered it is included as Other.

Incident Group

The incident group values according to the local district grouping rules.  This requires that the detailed incident codes are mapped into district groups in the SMS or in the DISCIPLINE_OFFENSE_GROUPS domain.

Type

The primary type of incident that triggered the disciplinary response.  Values such as disruption of class, fighting, gross insubordination, etc.

% Attendance

Total number of days attended divided by the total possible days of attendance.
