Mastery overview (students)

Teachers can use Mastery to show how well you are meeting learning objectives or standards in a course. This information can help you understand your progress and identify areas where you may need additional support.

Learning objectives and standards describe the knowledge and skills you are expected to learn in a course.

Review my Mastery

You may not have access to the Mastery area. If you have questions, contact your teacher or support contact.

  1. Go to a course.

  2. Select Mastery.

The Mastery page shows:

  • Learning objectives or standards linked to graded course materials

  • Your overall score for each learning objective or standard

Move your pointer over a course material to view your score for that item.

Course materials are color-coded based on achievement levels set by your instructor. A star icon indicates that you have mastered the learning objective or standard.

Mastery calculation

Mastery scores are based only on grades from course materials linked to a specific learning objective or standard.

Achievement levels include:

  • Exceeds Expectations: Your score meets or exceeds the level set by your instructor.

  • Meets Expectations: Your score meets the required level.

  • Does Not Meet: Your score is below the required level.

  • Mastery Achieved: You met the required score the number of times set by your instructor.

Review aligned learning objectives or standards

You cannot review learning objectives for individual assessment questions.

To review the learning objectives or standards linked to an assignment, test, or quiz, select the Info icon in the item.

The assignment profile is displayed with the Info icon and assignment details, including category, period, and standard or learning objective alignments.

If your instructor uses rubrics linked to learning objectives, they may choose to display the rubric. You can view the rubric from an assignment, discussion, test, quiz, or assessment.
