Use a cross-listing mapping file to combine enrollments from multiple sections into a single section in Schoology. Before you begin, work with your Schoology representative to ensure your student information system (SIS) integration and course provisioning are set up correctly.

If your organization uses PowerSchool SIS, the same co-admin must be enrolled in all cross-listed sections for grades to pass back successfully.
Get section school codes
The mapping file requires the Section School Code for both the section you want to cross-list and the target section. If you cannot get these values from your SIS before provisioning, export them from Schoology.
Export course data

From your System Admin account, click Export.

Select Sections.

Select the grading period that contains the sections.

Select the courses you want to export, including:

The sections you want to cross-list

The target section

Click Next.

Select the fields of data to export.
Include at least Section School Code. To make the file easier to review, also include:-
Course Name

Course Code

Section Name

Building Title
-

Click Next.

Click Export to download the CSV file.
Understand section types
Cross-listed section
A section that will not appear in Schoology. Enrollments from this section are added to the target section, and instructors and students access the target section instead.
Target section
The section that appears in Schoology. Enrollments from the target section and any cross-listed sections are combined in this section.
Create the mapping file
Create a CSV file with two columns:

You can add additional columns for your own recordkeeping if needed.
Import the mapping file
Cross-listing files can contain up to 239,000 rows. Files that exceed this limit will fail to import.

Click Import.

Use one of the following options:

From the Courses tab, select Course Cross-listing Configuration.

From the Auto-import tab, expand Course Section Cross-Listing.

Upload the CSV file.

Match the columns in your file to the appropriate fields.

Click Next to review the data.

Verify the information.
-
Click Run.
The upload location does not affect how the mapping file works. After the file is uploaded, it applies to provisioning completed through Import, Auto-import, and API/SIS integrations.
Grade passback with cross-listed sections
Dual-enrolled students
If a student is enrolled in both the cross-listed section and the target section in your SIS, they are automatically enrolled in the target section in Schoology. The grades passed back from Schoology to the SIS populate in the target section's gradebook.
This behavior applies to eSchoolPlus, SIS Connect, and Skyward only. All other SIS apps consider the student enrolled in the cross-listed section and pass grades back to the cross-listed section.
