Navigate courses on iOS mobile app (instructors)

Courses

The Courses area lists all of the courses for which you are a member. You can also join a course in this area.

Join courses

  1. Tap Courses from the navigation menu.

  2. Tap +.

  3. Enter the Course Access Code.

  4. Tap Join.

The format of the course code should be XXXXX-XXXXX (10 digits). After joining a course, you will begin receiving updates, grades, comments, and material notifications from the course. To manage the notifications you receive, review Notifications.

Depending on the settings in place at your school, you may not have permission to join courses using Course Access Codes.

Tap Courses from the navigation menu to display a list of all courses for which you are an administrator or a member. To access a course section, tap the name of your choice. The following information is available for each course section:

  • Materials, including assignments, tests, quizzes, files, links, discussions, albums, and pages

  • Updates

  • Upcoming

  • Gradebook

  • Attendance

  • Members

In the Elementary Experience, tap Menu to access any Course or Section apps that have already been installed through the web version of Schoology.

More

The More tab displays any Course or Section apps that have already been installed through the web version of Schoology.

Materials

The Materials area lists all assignments, tests, quizzes, files, links, discussions, albums, and pages in a particular course. Tap the material name to review it.

Updates

Course updates display the Recent Activity for a particular course section.

Upcoming

Review upcoming items or calendar events for a particular course.

Gradebook

The Gradebook displays the midterm, final, and grading periods grades by grading category.

Review grades

You can review graded items by tapping their Grading Period.

Grades will not appear for grading periods that have not yet started. Graded items without a grading period will populate the appropriate grading category under No Grading Period.

Attendance

Depending on your device, access Attendance by:

  • Tapping More in the tab bar of the course profile and tapping Attendance.

  • Tapping Attendance directly from the menu.

Members

Depending on your device, access Members by:

  • Tapping More in the bottom tab bar of the course profile and tapping Members.

  • Tapping Members directly from the menu.

From Members, you can review all course members alphabetically by last name. To review a member's profile, tap the user’s name.

Depending on the settings in place at your school, you may not have access to display member profiles.

Send a message to a course member

  1. Tap the name of the course member to message.

  2. Tap +.

  3. Enter the subject of the message.

  4. Enter the content of the message.

  5. Tap the checkmark to send your message.

Resources

Tapping Resources on the navigation menu allows you to access your existing Resources and Collections. For more information, review the Resource Center.

The only materials that can be loaded in the mobile app are read-only:

  • Files

  • Links

  • Pages

All other items, including assignments, assessments, discussions, tests, quizzes, and more, are listed as templates in Resources and can be accessed via a mobile browser or web browser.

Grades

The Grades area lists all of the courses for which you are an administrator or a member. The following information is available from a course section:

  • Midterm and final grades

  • Test, quiz, assessment, assignment, and graded discussion grades, organized by grading period and grading category

  • Test, quiz, assessment, assignment, and graded discussion grades with no grading period

To access the grades for a course section, tap the section of your choice. After you tap the course section, choose Final Grades or the grading period to review.

Add or edit grades

  1. Tap the row of the graded item.

  2. Tap a member's name to add or edit the grade.

  3. Use the sliding bar to tap the field or manually enter a point value.

  4. Optionally, enter a comment and choose to display it to the student or not.

  5. Repeat these steps for each student in the course.

  6. Tap the checkmark to complete.
