Schoology Learning

School affiliations

After schools are added and users, courses, and groups are associated with those schools, school affiliations affect how information is displayed and managed throughout Schoology.

Effect of school affiliations

User profiles

Organization-level users have the organization name displayed on their profile. School-level users have both the school name and organization name displayed on their profile.

Parent accounts

Parent accounts are automatically associated with the same school as their child. If a parent has children at multiple schools within the same organization, the parent account remains associated with the school of the first child linked to the account.

Courses

Courses and sections should be associated with the appropriate school. Instructors can teach courses across multiple schools, but their user account remains associated with a single school.

Recent Activity

Instructors who teach courses at multiple schools receive activity from their associated school and their courses in the Recent Activity feed.

Course lists

When users administer courses across multiple schools, the school associated with each course displays in the Courses menu.

Groups

Groups can be associated with specific schools and can use organization-level or school-level privacy settings.

Parent accounts across organizations

If a parent has children in different organizations, the parent must create separate parent accounts for each organization and link those accounts together.

For example, a parent who has children in two districts that use separate Schoology accounts must maintain a parent account for each organization.

Review group affiliations

  1. Select Groups and choose a group.

  2. From Information, select Edit if available.
