LTI Assignment Submission Enhancements

Schoology has enhanced the LTI Assignment Submission experience to make grading and reviewing student work more seamless, improve teacher awareness of new submission activity, and ensure more consistent behavior in linked sections. Together, these updates reduce navigation friction, help teachers stay on top of grading tasks, and create a more reliable experience for all users interacting with LTI Assignments Submissions.

SIS‑dropped students now move to Inactive instead of being removed

When a student is dropped from a course by SIS, Schoology now keeps the course enrollment and moves the student to Inactive Members instead of removing them. This applies to all SIS partners, including PowerSchool SIS, eSchoolPLUS (eSP), and external SIS vendors.

Hereby, historical grades and submissions are preserved, allowing the same enrollment to be reactivated if the student is re‑enrolled later. This update does not impact existing multi‑building associations for a student.

  • Enhancement submitted through the Ideas portal: [LMS-I-620]

  • Community/knowledge base article: [Preserving grades for SIS-dropped students]

Unenroll course or group members

App review submission improvements

The app review process for developers in the Schoology App Center has been simplified.

  • Submit directly in Schoology: App review submissions are now handled through a built-in form within Schoology, replacing the previous external MS forms. Information from your initial developer request is pre-filled automatically.

  • Edit after submitting: You can now update your submission details while your app is pending review, without needing to withdraw and resubmit.

  • Faster reviews: App reviewers can internally review your submission details directly, reducing back-and-forth and helping speed up approvals.

Auto-import de-duplication changes

We are updating the auto-import processing experience to harden against duplication of jobs and data. Where applicable, we will queue scheduled jobs after manual imports or prevent multiple import jobs from being run at the same time to avoid the duplication of data and improve auto-import integrity.
