Broadcasts

From the main navigation, select Broadcasts. From Broadcasts, you can create a new broadcast or click Load from Template to create a broadcast from an existing template. To restore all content to its original settings at any point, click Reset Broadcast.

Create a new broadcast

  1. Enter a Broadcast Name.

  2. Select a Broadcast Type.

  3. Configure Additional Broadcast settings.

    • From General settings:

      • Days to Run: If a broadcast reaches the end of the day, the days to run will determine if the call should resume the following day.

      • Send Email Report: When a broadcast is completed, this will set whether a copy of the report is emailed to the user.

      • Skip Duplicate Recipients: Allows a guardian with multiple students to combine mail, phone, and SMS messages for all their children into a single message.

      • Save Message Content: This feature allows users to save a message for future use.

    • From Phone settings:

      • Caller ID: Select the phone number you want to appear in the Caller ID.

      • Call Confirmation: Allows recipients to press 1 or 0, user can state in the message what those numbers represent.

      • Voice Responses: Allows recipients to record a response to a phone broadcast.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select broadcast recipients. Optionally, click the stacked dot for the following options:

    1. Custom Rules: Choose recipients based on specific criteria.

    2. Upload List: Select recipients based on an uploaded list of data.

    3. ID Lookup: Select recipients based on an uploaded list of IDs.

    4. Add Me: Add yourself to the list of recipients.

    5. Show Recipient Details: Review granular information about recipient selections.

    6. Remove All: Delete all added recipients.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Draft your broadcast message. Optionally:

    • Select Insert Field to insert imported fields into your message.

    • Select Load Stationery to use the preset email templates.

    • Select Load Newsletter to use pre-set newsletter email templates.

    • Select Attach to attach documents to the email broadcast.

    • Click the stacked dot icon to review the default language of the editor and:

      • Select a saved message.

      • Reset a message to the default.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Preview the message formats and the percentage of recipients who will receive the message in their preferred language. Optionally:

    • From Email, click the pencil icon to edit the message or the trash can icon to delete it.

    • From Phone, click the speaker icon to listen to the phone message or click the stacked dot icon to display additional settings:

      • Text to Speech: Listen to the message read to users through the built-in text-to-speech engine.

      • Call Phone to Record: Have the system call them to record a broadcast.

      • Record Voice: Allow users to record a message directly through their browser.

      • Select TTS Voice Gender: Choose a gender for the voice type for the text-to-speech engine.

      • Preview TTS Audio: Listen to a preview of the message content.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Review your broadcast message before sending it.

    • The Total Recipients donut graph displays the number of guardians and contacts the broadcast will reach.

    • The Recipient Languages stacked bar graph displays the number of recipients by language.

    • The Recipient Destination Types donut and bar graphs display the number of recipients by report by broadcast message type, email, SMS, and phone call.

    • The Recipient Destination Types per Language stacked bar graph displays the number of recipients with a specific destination type by language.

  12. Click Send Now to send the broadcast immediately. Optionally:

    • Click Schedule for Later to send at a later date or time.

    • Click Send to Myself to receive a copy of the broadcast before sending or scheduling.

Manage broadcasts

Click Manage broadcasts to be redirected to SchoolMessenger, where you can review and manage your recent broadcasts.
