Overview
The Student Observations and Referrals page lets users view and manage observation records. It includes a list of observations and referrals, along with filters to narrow results by incident dates, participants, and status. Review the Status descriptions table for more information.

Create an observation

From the navigation menu, select Observations.

Click + New observation.

Select the participants and enter the observation details.

Click Save observation to save the observation but not escalate it as a referral. Alternatively, click Submit as referral to save the observation but not escalate it as a referral.
Edit an observation
You can only edit an observation before it is submitted as a referral. After it is submitted, you can only edit the referral if returned to you by an administrator for more information.

From the navigation menu, select Observations.

For the selected observation, click More actions (three dots) and choose Edit observation.

Make necessary changes to the observation, and then click Save observation or Submit as referral. Alternatively, click Close if no further actions are required. Only observations with Saved status can be closed.
Review observation details
From the navigation menu, select Observations. Then, click More actions (three dots) and select Review details. Review the Detail section descriptions table for more information.

Review the status of the observation and any feedback provided by the administrator, if the observation was returned to the teacher. |

Review the student and the participants’ role associated with the observation. |

Review the date, time, title, description, and location where the incident occurred. |

Review the actions taken for the observation, such as detention and any additional comments, if provided. This allows you to verify that follow-up procedures have been documented. |

Outcomes |
Review the name of the student, the role assigned to the participant, and any behaviors or actions assigned to the participants by the administrator. |
Close an observation
Only observations with Saved status can be closed.
From the navigation menu, select Observations. Then, click More actions (three dots) and select Close observation to mark the observation as completed.
