Sign in with biometrics

Biometric sign‑in uses a device’s built‑in security, such as fingerprint or face recognition, to confirm identity. This lets a user sign in faster without entering a username and password every time.

Get started

A user signs in once with a username and password before biometrics are available. After biometrics are turned on, the app can use them for future sign‑ins.

Biometrics are optional and not managed by your district. If a device does not support biometrics, or biometrics are turned off on the device, this option does is not displayed in the app.

Sign‑in rules

Sign‑in with or without biometrics is required when:

  • The app opens after being fully closed

  • The app has been inactive for 15 minutes

Every 30 days, the app requires a full sign‑in with a username and password. This 30‑day timer refreshes each time the app is used, so frequent users with biometrics turned on usually do not see this prompt.

Security

These sign‑in rules follow common banking app standards and match the MyPowerHub website experience.

The mobile app meets NIST Authentication Assurance Level 1 security guidelines.

Other sign‑in options

If you aren’t using biometrics, you can rely on built‑in password managers available on iOS and Android to fill in saved credentials.
