AI Rubric tools: character limits

Increased the rubric input limit to 15,000 characters in the AI Rubric Scoring Tool. This enables longer, more detailed rubrics to be used without truncation and prevents false “maximum characters” errors.

Calculator: support for Florida FAST/BEST calculator profiles

Added support for the Florida FAST/BEST calculator configuration so districts can use the appropriate Desmos calculator profile. This helps ensure calculator availability aligns with state testing requirements. Once the changes are made, it takes two to three days to reflect.

Improved accessibility for equation pronunciation in rubrics

Added the ability to update the pronunciation of equations in the Mathematics Typeset editor for rubrics, ensuring accessibility compliance for visually-impaired users as required by Colorado State Law.

MathJax upgrade from v2.7 to 3.2.2

Updated MathJax to version 3.2.2, improving compatibility and ensuring equations continued to render correctly across the platform.

Read aloud in resources: added Ignore Section support when editing

Teachers can now mark selected text in a resource to be skipped by Read Aloud. This helps remove non-essential text from playback for a cleaner listening experience.

Read aloud in resources: added Pause support when editing

Teachers can now insert timed pauses into resource text to control Read Aloud pacing. Pauses are validated and persist through save/reopen and export/import.

Read aloud in resources: added pronunciation controls

Teachers can now update pronunciation within resources to improve Read Aloud accuracy for difficult words. This helps ensure resource passages are read correctly without workarounds like images.

Read aloud in resources: added Translator support when editing

Teachers can now translate selected text while creating or editing a resource so Read Aloud pronounces it in the chosen target language. This supports multilingual accessibility with saved translation markup that persists through save/reopen and export/import.

Spell checker accommodation

Performance Matters now supports a Spell Check accommodation setting for students on web-based assessments. Teachers and admins can enable or disable spell check at the assessment level or per individual student. When enabled, students receive non-intrusive spelling assistance in all free-form text response fields, misspellings are underlined and suggestions are offered, with automatic corrections. The feature is designed to remain compatible with screen readers and not impact grading or other accommodations. This is only available for essay type questions.

White on Black theme coverage for interactions and tools

Improved the White on Black accessibility theme so additional interactions (like choice/dropdown, draw, and upload) and embedded tools (like calculators and notepad) properly adopt the high-contrast styling. This provides a more consistent accessible experience across the test player.

White on Black accessibility display in OLA

The White on Black theme is improved so more interactions and tools consistently display white text on a black background. This improves readability and helps meet accessibility contrast expectations without disrupting other theme behavior.

Resolved issues

The following table highlights the key issues resolved in this release.

Summary

Description

Accommodation indicator

Resolved an issue where the ACC indicator could be removed even when a student did not have any accommodations selected. The student details display now reflects accommodation status more accurately.

Desmos calculator

Resolved the following issues:

  • All 5 keypad rows of the Scientific Calculator are fully visible and the expression input area is adequately sized. Fix is limited to the scientific calculator only with no side effects on other calculator types.

  • Updated the embedded Desmos calculator configuration to avoid regression result discrepancies caused by the Log Mode checkbox. Results now better match the expected Desmos behavior for students.

Draw interaction responses in Online Scoring

Resolved an issue where Draw interaction responses and background images could appear missing or disappear when scoring across students/items. This improves scoring reliability and prevents intermittent loss of what scorers expect to see.

Improved visibility of State Test Results in the Student and Parent Portal

Resolved an issue where the State Test Results tab could be missing for some students even when enabled at the organization level. This improves access to state test results for families in the portal.

Item creation

Resolved an issue where the Limit Student Selections option on Multiple Choice items was automatically enabled after item creation. Previously, the setting could have appeared selected and set to 1 when reopening an item, even if it was left unchecked during creation. The setting now correctly persists. If not selected during creation, it remains unselected and will no longer auto-enable after saving or when reopening the item for editing.

Math Entry scoring

Resolved an issue where Math Entry responses could be marked incorrect if a student pressed Enter after typing a correct answer. Correct responses now score properly even when line breaks are included by the student. Additionally, improved answer evaluation to accept mathematically equivalent responses with extra spaces. The system now ignores leading and trailing spaces and normalizes internal spacing where it does not change the mathematical meaning.

MathML item

Resolved an issue where decimals in MathML-based items were not read correctly by text-to-speech during item preview/assessment playback, causing the decimal point to be skipped.

Number Line interactions

Resolved an issue where Read Aloud translated or read unexpected text when single-letter answer choices were used in Number Line interactions.

OA Preview and Capture Data measure labels

Resolved an issue where numeric-only performance band labels (for example, “0-10”) displayed incorrectly in observational assessment preview and capture pages.

Rubric scoring no longer clears other interaction responses

Resolved an issue where scoring a rubric in Online Scoring could unintentionally cause other interaction responses, like dropdowns and graphing, to appear blank after refresh. This preserves student responses while allowing rubric points to be updated.

SpeechStream pronunciation

Resolved an issue where SpeechStream could read isolated English letters (such as “H”) in a non-English pronunciation due to auto-detection. Single letters are now read using expected English letter names.

TextHelp

Resolved an issue where the TextHelp finger pointer tool stopped reading test passages after the first item, requiring users to use the Play button to hear subsequent passages.
