GradeCam improvements and additional functionality

With the 26.2 release, updates to GradeCam’s layout and functionality will be available, including support for short answer/essay items. You can opt in to early access by submitting a support ticket.

Our integration now uses the updated GradeCam form. Along with multiple‑choice items, GradeCam forms now support the short answer/essay item type (previously called extended text). These items can be reviewed and scored in Online Scoring. The default question height is set to 5, and you can adjust the height during item creation if students need more space to write on the scan sheet. Note that GradeCam can only scan assessments that fit on a single page.

The GradeCam page has been reorganized slightly to make it easier to use, and a few labels have been updated:

  • “Single Test Form” is now “Pre‑Populated Form”, matching the terminology used in the test editor.

  • The “Active camera” header is now “Scan a test (Active camera)” for clearer guidance.

Hover help functionality in Item Editor

Added a Tool Tip (hover help) option in the item editor, allowing teachers to view and edit tool tips for better guidance while creating items. Students can preview these tooltips during online assessments.

Resolved issues

The following table highlights the key issues resolved in this release.

Summary

Description

Accommodation Attribute (ACC) display

Resolved the following issues related to the display of accommodation indicators in student records:

  • Students with only the Read Aloud accommodation (ACC) applied across all course types did not display the ACC pill indicator.

  • The Accommodation Attribute (ACC) continued to display in student details even after accommodations were removed.

MathML

Resolved the following MathML issues:

  • Duplicate or multi-line MathML boxes in a rubric (Description/Exemplar) incorrectly rendered within the item content when MathML was also present in the item.

  • MathML content was duplicating within the rubric description area.

  • MathML content in rubric (Description/Exemplar) areas were not rendering with the correct font.

Rubric MathML content now renders properly.

OLA translation language selection

Resolved an issue in the OLA (Online Assessment) platform where the translation accommodation repeatedly reset students’ selected language to Spanish after each question. Students no longer need to re-select their preferred language when navigating between questions.
