Add a schedule to an academic term

Schedules provide teachers with a starting point in their lesson planner. Each academic term can have one schedule, and each schedule must include at least one timetable.

If you use PowerSchool SIS, you can import teacher schedules through the PowerSchool SIS Integration.

Tip: A schedule can contain multiple timetables, such as semesters, quarters, or trimesters. When creating a schedule manually, use the academic term that spans the longest-running class to ensure all required timetables can be created within the same schedule.

Create schedule

Manually created schedules are linked to academic terms. If needed, create an academic term first.

  1. On the Academic Terms page, navigate to the academic term and select the add icon (plus symbol) in the Schedule column.

  2. If your school has a PowerSchool SIS integration, select Create manually or Configure SIS sync. If no SIS integration is available, select Create a schedule.

Configure SIS sync will take you to the PowerSchool SIS integration where you can configure your integration to sync each teacher’s schedules directly from PowerSchool SIS.

  1. On the Create timetable dialog, enter the timetable Name.

    • The first timetable for an academic term will always start on the first day of the term.

    • If needed, set your rotation. Use a daily rotation if the schedule repeats after a set number of school days, such as an A/B day or 6-day cycle. Use a weekly rotation if the schedule repeats on the same days each week.

  1. Select Create Timetable.

Add class periods

After you create your timetable, add class periods to create the schedule.

  1. For each class period you want to create:

    1. Select Add a Class and choose to either add a Class or a Non-Teaching Period.

    2. Enter a name and choose a display color for the class or non-teaching period.

    3. Select Create.

Tip: Since this is a template, use generic names like Period A, Period B so teachers can customize them later.

  1. Add the class periods to the schedule using one of the following methods:

    • Click and drag the class period to the schedule.

    • Select the Schedule icon (calendar) for the class, and enter the schedule information.

  2. Select Save changes.

Create multiple timetables

You can create multiple timetables within the same academic term when schedules change during the term, such as between fall and spring semesters.

To create another timetable, select the Timetable menu and choose Create another timetable.

Review schedule

To review how the schedule applies to real dates, select the Planner preview tab. Off days will not display in the Planner preview, but they will display in the teacher’s lesson planner.

Add custom days

Add custom days to change the schedule for specific days, such as assemblies or early releases.

  1. On the Planner preview tab, navigate to the date you want to add a custom day to.

  2. Select the Options menu (three dot icon) for the day and choose Create custom day.

  3. On the Create custom day dialog, enter the custom day details.

  4. Select Update Schedule.

Once the schedule contains custom days, you can use the Custom days menu to navigate between them.

Custom days and other schedule changes can affect the schedule rotation. From the Options menu (three dot icon), select Realign rotation if subsequent days do not follow the intended sequence.

Release schedule

After completing the schedule, release it to teachers. Teachers can then access the schedule in their lesson planner to edit it, rename classes, and start creating lesson plans.

  1. Select Release schedule to users.

  2. On the Release schedule to users dialog, select the users to release the schedule to. Use school, group, or assigned role filters to narrow your choices.

  3. Select Release to user. The number of users to release to will be included on the button.

Use the Schedule release log on the Academic terms page to confirm who received the schedule.
