Parent email digest and overdue notifications email

Email settings

You may elect to receive two email digests of your student's activity in Schoology. To manage email digest settings in your guardian account:

  1. Click your name in the header and choose a student from the list.

  2. Click your student’s name in the header and choose Settings.

  3. Navigate to Notifications.

  4. Optionally, from Parent Email Digest, select On for Email Summary so you can receive one or both of the two email summaries:

    • Choose Daily to set a time at which the notification will be sent to your inbox.

    • Choose Weekly to select the day of the week you'd like to receive the email. If there are no updates for the given time period, you will receive an email stating that there are no new updates.

  5. Optionally, from Overdue Submissions Email, select On for Email Notifications to receive emails for past due notifications.

  6. Click Save Changes.

Parent email digest

The email digest includes:

  • The date range for the information displayed.

  • The student’s name at the beginning of the email summary.

  • A summary of each course for the student, including:

    • The student’s current grade for each course.

    • A summary of marked attendance, such as late, absent, or excused.

  • Overdue submissions, including:

    • How many days the item is past due.

    • The assignment, test/quiz, or discussion title.

    • The course in which the item is due.

Overdue items marked as Excused or Missing are not included in Overdue Submissions.

Guardians cannot remove overdue notifications. Overdue notifications are only removed when:

  • The student makes a submission.

  • The instructor manually enters a grade into the gradebook.

  • The instructor adds an Excused or Missing exception to the gradebook.

  • The course has become archived.

  • Instructors disable the Enable Submission setting from the assignment, which will prevent overdue notifications from appearing.

  • Recent activity, including:

    • The student's posts and updates in courses, assignments, tests/quizzes, and discussions.

    • Recent submissions for assignments and tests/quizzes.

The digest includes up to five Summary items and up to ten Recent Activity items. To display more items, click the More option at the end of each area. If you have more than one student association, scroll down to display the Summary and Recent Activity for additional students.

You will receive one Overdue Notifications email for each time that your student fails to submit an item on time. You receive only one notification per late material, regardless of how long it remains unsubmitted.

Verify your email

To make sure you receive emails, check that your email address is verified to receive emails from Schoology.

  1. Click the name in the header and select your name from the list.

  2. Click your name in the header and choose Settings.

  3. If you haven't yet verified your primary email address, an option to Resend verification email will display. Select Resend verification email.

  4. Click Save Changes.

  5. Retrieve the verification email and click the link provided in the email to verify your email address.

If emails arrive at the wrong time, check your time zone in Account Settings. If you’re not receiving daily or weekly emails after completing these steps, contact PowerSchool Support.
