PowerSchool Professional Learning integration

The PowerSchool Professional Learning integration creates professional learning courses and provisions enrollments to Schoology through the API. Faculty search for and register for professional development courses in Professional Learning but access course content in Schoology. Course completion status is retrieved from Schoology and passed back to Professional Learning automatically (checked twice daily).

There are two implementation paths:

  • Basic setup: Create professional development courses in Professional Learning. The integration syncs courses and enrollments to Schoology as empty course sections. You must manually add content to each course before enrolling users.

  • Customized setup (recommended): Create a master course section template in Schoology. The integration generates copied sections from the template, so all course content is automatically included in each new section.

If you choose the customized setup, refer to the Set up course section templates for Professional Learning page. If you choose the basic setup, continue to Configure course sections on this page.

You must add course materials and completion rules before enrolling faculty. If enrollments are added before content and completion rules are set, course members will be automatically marked as completed in Professional Learning.

Configure course sections

Navigate to the course and choose Grade Setup. Enter the relevant settings for your course section.

Add course materials

Course materials should be organized into folders within course sections. If you created course section templates, add materials there. Professional Learning will generate copies with those materials in each new section. Otherwise, you will need to add materials and folders to each course section manually.

Create a folder

  1. Navigate to the course.

  2. From the Materials page, select Add Materials and choose Add Folder.

  3. Enter the Title and Availability. Optional: Folder Color, Description, Date.

  4. Click Create.

Add materials to a folder

  2. From the Materials page, select the folder to which you want to add materials.

  3. From Add Materials, select a content type.

  4. Fill out the form.

  5. Click Create.
