After two-way SMS is enabled, guardians may receive automated messages required by mobile carriers and messaging regulations.
Welcome messages
A welcome message is typically sent the first time a guardian receives an SMS message from a conversation.
Because each conversation uses a different phone number, guardians may receive a welcome message more than once.
For example:

A guardian receives a full welcome message the first time they are contacted.

If they are later added to a new conversation with a different number, they receive another welcome message.
This behavior is required for SMS compliance.

Language preferences and translation
If a guardian does not have a preferred language on file, they may receive the following language selection message.
This allows future SMS messages to be translated appropriately.

If the language selection is not recognized, the guardian receives the following retry prompt.

To stop receiving messages from a specific number, guardians can reply with:
