Two-way SMS

Two-way SMS lets you send messages in PowerSchool Messaging while guardians receive and reply to them by text, instead of using PowerSchool Messaging in MyPowerHub.

This helps you reach guardians who may not regularly use in-app messaging or sign in to MyPowerHub. With two-way SMS, they can stay part of the conversation using their mobile device.

Before you begin

To use two-way SMS, your district must complete a one-time registration process, which is required by mobile carriers to ensure messages are verified and sent with the recipient’s consent.

Registration typically takes 2–4 weeks.

PowerSchool submits the registration for you, but you must provide the required information.

Next steps

PowerSchool will submit your district for carrier approval after you provide the required details.

After approval, you can begin sending and receiving SMS messages with guardians.

  • Two-way SMS requires recipient consent before messaging.

  • Approval is handled by mobile carriers, not PowerSchool.

  • Most registration issues are related to missing or incorrect wording.
