Download and Print Tests
You can customize the format of the print version of tests to be administered with scan sheets. The initial item formatting was determined when the items and resources were created. If you created the items on your test with different formats, you may want to standardize them.
Download Tests and Answer Keys
You have multiple options when downloading tests and answer keys.
Use Global Search to Download a Test to Microsoft Word
- Click the global search icon.
- Select Assessment Test in the Type section.
- Enter Search criteria, then press the Enter key.
- In the search results, click Download Test for the desired test.
- Select the appropriate Word Doc Generation options.
- Click OK.
For More Downloading Options, Use Assessment Manager
From Assessment Manager, you can download or print answer keys, or download a PDF or Word version of tests. You can also customize the print layout when creating PDF and Word versions of tests.
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- To print or download an answer key, click Printing, select Answer Key, and then use your browser to print or download the answer key.
- To download a Word document, click Printing, then select Word Doc. Choose from the Word Doc Generation options, then click OK.
- To customize the output, click Printing, select Customize Print Layout, customize the content, and then click To PDF or To DOC.
Test Print Customization Windows and Options
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- From the Edit Test screen, select Printing, then select Customize Print Layout.
Toolbar
The customization toolbar offers several options for formatting your test.
A. Review and edit the source code (for advanced users with HTML knowledge only)
B. Cut, copy, and paste options; undo and redo buttons
C. Insert buttons for forms, fields, and images (typically not used as the items should contain the necessary elements)
D. Insert buttons for tables and page breaks
E. Format buttons for bold, italics, underline, and strike-through
F. Format buttons for text alignment and block quotes
G. Add a link (typically not used since the test will be in printed form)
H. Format buttons for text styles
I. Full page display for easier editing
Additional Customization Options
Before you save or download the custom print version of the test, you may want to select one of these options:
- Include Item Level Styles - Use defined styles for imported items: alignment of images and text, italic, bold, strike-through, underline font, and passage header formatting. The addition of these styles can affect the length of a test booklet.
- Disable Duplicate Resources - Ensures that any resource used with multiple items on the test is only included once in the print version.
- Make Default View - Set this custom print version as the default used when anyone downloads the test PDF from Assessment Manager.
Only one user can set the default display using the Make Default View option. If a user has already selected this, the user's name displays instead of the option. However, you can still create your custom version of the test and download it via the Test Editor.
Action Buttons
Choose from the following options:
- Cancel to cancel any customizations made.
- Reset to delete the current saved custom print version in order to create or upload a new version.
- To PDF to download a PDF of the custom print version of the test.
- To DOC to download a Microsoft Word document of the test for formatting.
- Save to save your customizations. This becomes the custom print version for your user name, and the ability to upload a PDF for this test is disabled.
Customize Print Layout in Performance Matters
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- Select Printing, then select Customize Print Layout.
- Review the initial print version.
- Choose from the additional customization options.
- Click To PDF.
- The test is downloaded to your computer as a PDF file.
- Customize the test.
- Open the downloaded PDF file and note all the formatting issues that require correction.
- Format the test in the test print customization window as needed.
- Save the custom print version PDF.
- Select the necessary additional customization options.
- Click Save.
After you save a PDF version of a test, the Upload PDF option is unavailable from the Printing menu.
Customize Print Layout Using Word
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- Select Printing, then select Customize Print Layout.
- Download the Word document.
- Choose from the additional customization options.
- Click To DOC.
- The test downloads to your computer as a Word file. Click Cancel to exit the Test Print Customization window. Do not click Save.
- Customize the test.
- Open the downloaded Word file.
- Format the test in MS Word as needed.
- Save the Word document as a PDF file onto your computer.
- Upload the custom print version PDF.
- From the Edit Test screen, select Printing, then click Upload PDF.
- Click Choose File.
- Choose the PDF file you saved from Word. The file can be no larger than 30 MB.
- Select Make Default View if you want to set this custom print version to be the default used when anyone downloads the test PDF from Assessment Manager.
- Click Upload PDF.
Click OK to exit the window.
After you save a PDF version of a test, the Upload PDF option is unavailable from the Printing menu.
Modify the Custom Print Version
The necessary method to modify your custom print version of the test depends on how you created the test.
- If you made and saved changes in the test print customization window:
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- Select Printing, then select Customize Print Layout.
- Optionally, you can modify the saved version. Make the necessary changes, then click Save.
- Optionally, click Reset to delete the saved version.
- Alternatively, if you uploaded a PDF of the test:
- Choose Tests from the main navigation menu, then choose Assessment Manager.
- Search for and choose a Test Title.
- Select Printing, then click Upload PDF.
- Optionally, you can modify the saved version. Click Choose File to browse for and upload a replacement file.
- Optionally, to delete the saved version, click Delete.
