Import resources from web content, SCORM, Blackboard, and Moodle packages

Import web content, SCORM packages, Blackboard packages, and Moodle packages into Schoology resources.

Before importing resources:

  • Organize the files you want to import.

  • For large migrations, consider organizing files by subject area.

  • Obtain SFTP credentials from your Schoology team.

  • Create folders on the SFTP server for the files you plan to import.

  • Use a clear and consistent folder naming structure. Folder names become the names of the groups created during import.

Configure SFTP for resources

The Common Cartridge Bulk Import option is intended only for organizations importing PowerSchool Learning content.

  1. Select Tools and choose School Management.

  2. Select Import.

  3. Select Resources.

  4. Enter the SFTP credentials.

  5. From Import from, select the content type for import.

  6. From Import to, select an option. For Existing collection, select the Collection and enter the New folder title from the Content Migration Group folder that matches the folder being imported from the SFTP server

  7. Enter the full directory path from the SFTP server.

  8. Optionally, select Import all files in path.

  9. Select Import.

Supported question types

When importing Blackboard, QTI, or Moodle packages, Schoology supports the following question types:

  • Multiple choice

  • Matching

  • Short response

  • Multiple answer

  • Ordering

  • Fill in the blank

  • Opinion scale

  • True or false

  • Fill in the blank plus

  • Either/Or

  • Essay

Tracking imported resources

Imported files are automatically moved to an ARCHIVED folder on the SFTP server after import. This helps track which files have already been imported.

  • Files stored in SFTP subfolders are not imported.

  • To import archived files again, enter the path to the ARCHIVED folder or move the files out of that folder before importing.

  1. Verify that imported resources are displayed in the expected group and folder.

  2. Optionally, select multiple files and use Move To from the Edit menu to reorganize imported resources.

  3. Select Members and choose Add Members to provide instructors or system administrators access to imported resources
