Configure organization default settings

System Settings enables you to control site-wide defaults for your organization. Settings configured here apply to all users unless overridden at the role or individual level.

To access System Settings, select Tools and choose School Management. Update the settings and select Save Changes.

To configure PowerBuddy for Learning settings, refer to PowerBuddy for Learning settings. To configure parent account settings, refer to Administer parent account settings.

Access codes

Access codes control how users register for accounts and join courses or groups within your organization. By default, access codes are enabled.

Access code options

Option

Description

Enable course access codes

Allows users to join a course by entering an access code from My Courses.

Enable group access codes

Allows users to join a group by entering an access code from My Groups.

Enable student registration with an access code

Allows students to self-register at app.schoology.com using a course or group access code to create an account within your Enterprise organization.

Enable parent access codes

Allows parents to create accounts and monitor their child's activity by entering a Parent Access Code. For full setup instructions, Refer to the Set up and distribute Parent Access Codes page.

Select the default role for a new parent

Sets the default role assigned to parents who register using an access code. A Parent role is recommended.

Enable registration codes

Allows faculty users to create accounts by entering a role-specific registration code. Click Enable to activate registration codes for that role.

System settings apply to your entire organization. To further control whether a specific role can join courses or groups using an access code, adjust the Use course access codes permission in the Permissions area.

Default time zone

From System Settings, navigate to Default time zone.

Choose a time zone from the list to be the default time zone associated with all newly created users in your organization.

Calendar system

From System Settings, navigate to Calendar System.

Choose Gregorian and Hijri from the list to allow users at the school level to choose their calendar display preferences, including displaying Hijri dates side-by-side with Gregorian dates (within certain content) and a Hijri toggle on calendar and date pickers.

From System Settings, navigate to Organization logo.

Upload your organization's logo to ensure it appears on printed report outputs.

Default home page

From System Settings, navigate to Set default home page.

Control the default home page for all users in your organization who have not customized this setting in their own Account Settings.

Choose between:

  • Recent Activity

  • Course Dashboard

Changing this setting only affects users who have not already set a personal preference in their Account Settings.

Learning standards

From System Settings, navigate to Learning standards.

Select learning standards to make their objectives available across your organization. Instructors can then use these objectives when creating course materials and rubrics.
