The Blackbaud SIS integration has been deprecated and is no longer available as a new integration. This information applies only to organizations that implemented the integration before it was deprecated.
Use the Blackbaud app to configure synchronization settings and provision users, courses, sections, and enrollments.
To use the Blackbaud app, it must already be installed in your Schoology organization.
Configure the Aeries integration
From the App Center, select the Blackbaud app and perform the following actions.
Add API credentials

Select Configuration.

Enter your:

Blackbaud domain
-
Database Number
-
Database Key
-

Select Save API Credentials.
Set the Blackbaud sync schedule

Select a sync option:
-
Manual: An administrator starts each sync.

Scheduled: The integration runs hourly or daily.
-

If you selected Scheduled, select the sync frequency.

Select Save Sync Options.
The selected schedule applies to users, courses, sections, and enrollments. You can change the schedule by updating and saving the sync options.
Run a test sync
Use test mode when testing the Blackbaud sync. Test mode adds test_ to the beginning of each synced email address. This prevents the test accounts from conflicting with existing Schoology accounts because email addresses must be unique in Schoology.

Select Test Mode.

Run the test sync.
The source content recommends contacting your Schoology representative if you are unsure whether to enable or disable test mode.
Set the active year

Locate Blackbaud Active Year.

Select the current school year.
Confirm the acting user
You must be the acting user for the Blackbaud app and a Schoology administrator to change the app configuration.

Locate Schoology Acting User.

If you are not identified as the acting user, select the option to make yourself the acting user.
Map schools
Use school mappings to identify the Schoology school or building that receives data from each Blackbaud school. From the App Center, select the Blackbaud app and perform the following actions.

In the Blackbaud app, select Schools.

For each Blackbaud school, select the corresponding Schoology school or building.
Map terms to grading periods
Configure school mappings before mapping terms. After the schools are configured, they are available in the Terms area of the Blackbaud app.

In the Blackbaud app, select Terms.

Locate a Blackbaud term.

Select the corresponding Schoology grading period.

If the grading period does not exist in Schoology, select Create New Term.

Repeat these steps for each Blackbaud term.
To map one Blackbaud term to multiple Schoology grading periods, select Add next to the Schoology grading period selection and choose another grading period.
After configuring the Configuration, Schools, and Terms tabs, contact your Schoology representative before proceeding.
Your Schoology representative can provide additional guidance and help you use the Data Prep tool.
Sync users
Before syncing users, map Blackbaud roles to Schoology roles.

In the Blackbaud app, select Users.

Select the school whose users you want to sync.

Map the Blackbaud student role to the appropriate Schoology role.

Map the Blackbaud staff role to the appropriate Schoology role.

Select Sync Users.
To exclude a role from provisioning, select Do Not Sync.
You can select Sync Users at any time to manually sync users.
Sync courses

In the Blackbaud app, select Courses.

Select each school whose courses you want to sync.

Select Sync Courses.
Sync sections and enrollments

In the Blackbaud app, select Sections.

Select each school whose sections and enrollments you want to sync.
