User access roles and parent provisioning
Administrators can map custom User Access Roles and Security Groups from PowerSchool SIS (version 23.5 or higher) to Schoology roles.
Map Custom PowerSchool Security Groups to Schoology Roles

In the PowerSchool SIS app in Schoology, select the Users tab.

Select Role Mapping.

Enable Map Security Groups.

For each PowerSchool Security Group (e.g., Counselor, Co-Teacher, Building Admin), select the corresponding target Schoology Role.

Select Save Role Mapping.
Parent account provisioning
Automated parent role syncing creates parent accounts in Schoology and links them to student accounts. Requirements for parent accounts in PowerSchool SIS include:

Guardian status enabled.

Web access enabled.

Valid username or email address configured.
Each user account has a single Schoology primary role. If a user maintains multiple roles in PowerSchool, the most recently provisioned role takes precedence.
Personal ID sync
Configure the Student_Number or National ID to sync from PowerSchool SIS to Schoology for Student roles. This ID populates the Personal ID field in Schoology user profiles.
Courses, sections, and enrollments

Courses: Select school buildings and click Sync Courses to import course master catalog items.

Sections and enrollments: Click Sync Sections/Enrollments to create section shells and populate student/teacher rosters.

Lead teachers versus co-teachers: The API sync automatically assigns lead teachers to sections. Co-teachers must be manually added to sections in Schoology and promoted to Section Admin.
Sync monitoring and logs
Use the Logs tab within the PowerSchool SIS app in Schoology to monitor execution status, inspect total records processed, and analyze error details during automated or manual sync runs.
