Set up the Skyward integration to configure synchronization settings and provision users, courses, sections, and enrollments.
Before you begin
-
Obtain API information from your Skyward representative.
-
Verify that usernames do not contain spaces in Skyward.
-
Verify that all students have security records in Skyward.
-
Contact your Schoology representative to request installation of the Skyward integration.
Install the Skyward app
After completing the integration requirements, contact your Schoology representative to request installation of the Skyward app in your Schoology System Admin account.
System administrators can install the app. For installation instructions, refer to the Install and manage apps in the App Center page. When installing, select All Courses for scope.
After installation, all courses in your schools mapped to Skyward will have the Skyward SIS app in the course profile menu.
Configure the Skyward integration
From the App Center, select the Skyward app and perform the following actions.
Add the Skyward API credentials
-
Select Configuration.
-
Enter the Skyward Domain, Consumer Key, and Consumer Secret provided by Skyward.
-
Select Save API Credentials.
Choose a sync timing option
-
From Skyward Sync Timing Options, select a scheduling option:
-
Manual: The Acting User starts syncs for users, courses, and sections.
-
Scheduled: Automated syncs run daily. Select Daily unless your Schoology representative advises otherwise.
-
-
Select Save Sync Options.
The scheduled time indicates when data enters the processing queue, not when the sync finishes. Starting a manual sync or changing the scheduled window resets the queue timer for 24 hours plus the configured window to prevent overlapping sync jobs.
Confirm the Acting User
To configure or run the Skyward app, the acting user must:
-
-
Be designated as the Acting User

Map Skyward terms to Schoology grading periods
-
From the Skyward app, select Terms.

For each mapped school, map the Skyward terms to existing Schoology grading periods for the active school year.
-
If a grading period does not exist, select Create new grading period. The grading period uses the start and end dates from Skyward .
-
Select Save Changes.
Sections associated with an unmapped Skyward term are not provisioned to Schoology.
