Preparation checklist
Perform the following administrative preparation steps before installing the plugin:

Verify PowerSchool SIS is running version 21.4 or higher (24.12+ recommended).

Contact PowerSchool Support to verify SSL certificate installation in PowerSchool SIS.

Consolidate multi-building teacher accounts in PowerSchool SIS into a single primary record.
-
Import student email addresses in PowerSchool SIS via Data Import Manager if email sync is desired.
-
Roll over PowerSchool SIS to the upcoming school year.
Install the plugin in PowerSchool SIS
Follow these steps to enable the pre-installed Schoology SIS Adapter V2 plugin (PowerSchool 21.4+):

Log in to PowerSchool SIS as a System Administrator.

Navigate to Setup, System, System Settings, and then select Plugin Management Configuration.

Locate the Schoology SIS Adapter V2 plugin in the list:

New Installations: Select Install, upload the adapter XML package, and select Save.

Upgrades: Select Update next to the existing plugin, choose the new XML file, and select Submit.

Select Enable/Disable and click Enable.
-
Select the plugin name and select Data Provider Configuration.

Copy the generated Client ID and Client Secret.
Connect API credentials in Schoology

Log in to Schoology as a System Administrator and open App Center from the header grid.

Install the PowerSchool SIS App into your school.

Open the PowerSchool SIS Admin App in Schoology.

Paste the PowerSchool
Client IDinto the Consumer Key field. -
Paste the PowerSchool
Client Secretinto the Consumer Secret field. -
Enter your PowerSchool SIS base URL in the PowerSchool Domain field.

Click Save API Credentials to establish the connection.
Troubleshooting credential errors

Remove trailing or leading space characters in the Key, Secret, and Domain fields.

Verify the domain URL includes https:// or http://.
-
Ensure SSL is enabled by going to System Settings and selecting Global Server Settings in PowerSchool SIS.
School building mapping
On the Schools tab, configure how SIS building records correspond to Schoology buildings:

One-to-One Mapping: Select the matching Schoology building for each PowerSchool building.

Many-to-One Mapping: Map multiple PowerSchool SIS buildings into a single consolidated Schoology building.

Auto-Creation: Select Create New Building to automatically generate a corresponding building in Schoology.
Term and grading period mapping
From the Terms tab, map PowerSchool SIS Terms to Schoology Grading Periods:

One-to-One: Map each SIS term directly to a single Schoology grading period.

Split Terms: Map a full-year or semester SIS term to multiple Schoology grading periods.

Auto-Create: Select Create new grading period to auto-populate grading periods using the term name and start/end dates from PowerSchool.
