Ask questions with binary answer choices.

Enter the statement, and customize the text displayed for the true and false options.

Optionally, require the correct answer when students select False. Students not providing the correct answer receive 50 percent credit for the question.

Assess students' understanding of key concepts by selecting the correct answer from a list of options.

Enter the question and answer choices, indicating the correct answers.

Optionally:

• Randomize the answer choices to scramble the display order for each student.

• Allow partial credit when selecting at least one but not all correct answers. Each correct answer choice gains one point, but each incorrect answer loses one point. You can manually override the score from within the quiz.

• Set a time limit for each question.

• Edit the answer choices to add formatting elements using the rich text editor.

• Add a character limit on students' responses.

• Give students access to Rich Text features.

• Allow audio or video recordings in question responses. This feature is only available to users who use a browser to access Schoology. It is not available on the mobile app.

Manually for each student

Add a rubric to evaluate your students' responses and determine if students can review the rubric while answering the question.

Go to the Results section of the test or quiz to grade student responses. Select View Attempts for the student and then choose View/Edit from the submission’s gear icon.

Click the question’s rubric icon, click each cell to grade each criterion, and then click Save.

The rubric score will be the sum of the scores on each criterion out of the total number of possible points. The rubric score will then be converted to an equivalent percentage of the question’s points.

Fill-in-the-blank

Evaluate students' ability to recall specific information and complete sentences with the correct terms.

Enter the sentence by typing one underscore where the blank should be placed. Add additional underscores if you want to have multiple blanks in the question. Then, enter the answers for each blank.

Assess students' abilities to identify pairs.

Enter instructions, and then enter each question and answer pair. Optionally, rearrange the order of the question and answer pairs

• If an answer is used more than once, it will only be displayed once to the student.

• Questions are displayed in the order you define. Answers will be shuffled.

• When exporting tests or quizzes from your Resources area, the file size limit is 10GB. The following question types are not available in the current version of Common Cartridge (v1.3) that is exported:

  • Matching with more than one blank

  • Fill in the blank with more than one blank

  • Ordering
