Use Performance Matters in a course

The Performance Matters integration allows instructors to add Performance Matters assessments to Schoology courses. Students access and complete these assessments directly in Schoology.

Scores can be passed back to the Schoology gradebook when grading is enabled.

Add a Performance Matters assessment

1. Navigate to a course.

2. Select Add Materials and choose Add Common Assessment. If this option is unavailable, contact your Support Contact.

3. Select one or more assessments.

4. Optionally, select Preview to review an assessment before adding it. This will open the assessment in a new tab and display it in the Performance Matters online assessment format.

5. Click Add to Course.

Make the assessment available to students

Performance Matters assessments are unpublished when added to a course.

1. Navigate to the course.

2. From Materials, select the assignment’s gear icon and choose Publish.

Edit assessment settings

1. Navigate to the course.

2. From Materials, select the assignment’s gear icon and choose Edit.

3. Select Enable Grading to add a due date and other grading information to the assessment.

   • You must select a category if you want to pass scores back to the Schoology gradebook.

   • To assign the assessment to specific students, select the Individually Assign icon.

4. Select Save Changes.

Student access and assessment completion

Students can access Performance Matters assessments from:

• • Course Materials

  • Upcoming

  • Calendar

  • Notifications

Take a Performance Matters assessment

1. Students navigate to the course.

2. Select the assessment title to automatically assign the assessment to the student and log in to Performance Matters.

3. From the list of assessments, select the assessment or section name.

4. Click Next to begin.

5. Answer the questions appropriately and select Next or Previous to move between questions.

6. Optionally, select Pause to stop the assessment.

7. Click Submit Test.

8. Review your responses and submit the assessment.

Review Performance Matters assessment scores

Students can immediately review scores when:

• The assessment contains only machine-scored questions.

• Show student score after submission is enabled.

If the assessment contains manually scored questions, scores become available after the instructor completes grading.

Assessments results are available in Performance Matters Reports and in the Schoology gradebook.

• Standards scores

Instructors can grade manually scored items from Online Scoring or Score Assignments.

To pass scores to the Schoology gradebook:

• Enable grading before students take the assessment.

• Select a grading category.

• Have students complete the assessment through Schoology.

After all questions have been scored, the overall score appears in the Schoology gradebook.
