Performance Matters Assessment and Analytics

Respondus LockDown Browser

The Respondus LockDown Browser is a browser that instructors can use to lock down their testing environment. The LockDown Browser displays the assessment in full-screen mode and prevents students from navigating away from the assessment or opening other applications, such as the internet or notes, while testing is in progress. The browser also prevents copy and paste, right-clicking, screen capture, messaging, and printing.

To use LockDown Browser with Performance Matters assessments, students must have the Respondus LockDown Browser application installed on their device. Students can install the application themselves, or districts can distribute it through their IT department. Administrators manage access to the Secure Portal and staff permissions, while teachers and other authorized staff can enable LockDown Browser for individual assessments.

Students access assessments through the secure portal URL generated by Performance Matters and provided by their district. When LockDown Browser is enabled for an assessment, the assessment opens in the LockDown Browser, where students complete and submit their responses.
