Tools and accommodations

You can apply tools and accommodations at both the student and assessment levels. Student-level settings take priority, so any tools or accommodations in a student’s profile are always available, regardless of assessment-level settings. Some tools and accommodations can be set at only one level.

The following table provides a detailed list of available tools and accommodations.

Calculator options: Basic calculator

Performs basic arithmetic operations, reducing cognitive load during problem-solving.

Calculator options: Graphing calculator

Plots equations and visualizes relationships, supporting deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.

Calculator options: Scientific calculator

Provides advanced functions such as exponents and trigonometry for more complex calculations.

Choice eliminator or Eliminator

Crosses out answer choices to narrow options and support strategic decision-making.

Color contrast

Adjusts text and background colors to either black text on a white background or white text on a black background.

Compass

Draws precise arcs and circles, useful for geometry-related work.

Dictionary options: Dictionary

Displays definitions for selected words to clarify meaning and build vocabulary.

Dictionary options: Picture dictionary

Provides visual representations of selected words to reinforce understanding through imagery.

Highlighter

Marks important text to help focus attention on key details and support active reading.

Line focus

Highlights a selected portion of text to reduce distractions and improve reading focus.

Line tool

Creates straight lines to support diagrams and structured problem-solving.

No time limit on timed tests

Removes time restrictions, allowing the test to be completed without a countdown or set time limit.

Notepad

Provides virtual scratch space to jot down notes, organize thinking, or work through problems.

Protractor

Measures angles to support geometry and spatial reasoning tasks.

Ruler

Measures length or distance within a problem, supporting accuracy in visual and math-based tasks.

Spell checker

Offers spelling support during typing, helping maintain focus on content rather than mechanics.

Text size

Adjusts the size of on-screen text, with options for Normal, Medium, and Large.

Text to Speech options: Read aloud

Reads text aloud to support comprehension through auditory access.

Text to Speech options: Magnify

Enlarges text as it is read aloud to support visual tracking.

Available only when Read Aloud Only is enabled; does not apply to content within iFrames.

Text to Speech options: Translation

Translates selected words to support access to content across languages.
