Manage parents and advisors associations | PowerSchool Learning and Engagement

Parent associations allow parents to access student information through a linked, view-only student account. Depending on permissions and privacy settings, parents can access items such as recent activity, upcoming work, calendars, courses, groups, grades, and attendance.

Advisor associations allow advisors to access student information through the Advisees area. System administrators can search for any user in the organization and view advisee information.

Use the Parents/Advisors tab to create, manage, import, and export parent and advisor associations.

Add a parent association

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
Search for the student.
Select Parent next to the student's name.
Enter the parent's name.
Select the parent from the matching results.
Select Save Changes.

Add an advisor association

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
Search for the student.
Select Advisor next to the student's name.
Enter the advisor's name.
Select the advisor from the matching results.
Select Save Changes.

Remove a parent or advisor association

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
Search for the student.
Select X next to the parent or advisor association.
Select Save Changes.

Import parent or advisor associations

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
From Options, select Import Associations.
Upload a CSV or XLS file containing parent or advisor associations.
Complete the import.

A parent with multiple students may appear more than once in the import file.

Export parent or advisor associations

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
From Options, select Export Associations.
Download the CSV file.

The export includes user IDs and associated parents or advisors.

Download parent access codes

From User Management, select Manage Users.
Select Parents and Advisors.
From Options, select Download Parent Access Codes.
Download the CSV file.

Parent access codes can be used to create a parent account or associate an existing parent account with a student. Each student has a unique parent access code.
