Schoology Apps and APIs

The permissions in this area pertain to the App Center. If you already have apps installed at your school, you may see additional permissions for specific apps in addition to the ones below.

Schoology Apps

The following permissions are only available for faculty roles:

    • Install applications

      • Enabled: Gives permission to install apps from the App Center, as long as the app doesn't also require the Administer applications permission.

      • Disabled: The role cannot install apps from the App Center.

    • Develop apps

      • Enabled: Gives permission to develop their own apps for the App Center. When enabled, the user will see a My Developer Apps area at the top of the App Center.

      • Disabled: The My Developer Apps area is not available.

    • Access to app center

      • Enabled: Gives permission to access the App Center.

      • Disabled: Users who do not have any apps installed will not see the Apps icon in the header. Users who have apps installed can see the Apps icon but cannot navigate to the App Center to browse for apps. Users can still access specific app profiles directly by URL.

Individual app permissions may also appear here, allowing you to customize which roles can access specific apps that are installed. For example, schools that have installed the YouTube app will see permission to allow or prevent user roles to Access app "YouTube" in this section of the permissions page.

APIs

  • Create New API Keys

    • Enabled: Users are able to generate their own API keys within the User Management page.

    • Disabled: Users cannot generate API keys.

District Administrators can manage which users are able to generate their own API keys. This feature is unchecked by default for all user roles in school districts that are new to Schoology as of 8/4/2022.
